COVID-19 UPDATE

We are really pleased to be opening again and have been really busy preparing the ground – even the weather has perked up, so hopefully this will be the start of getting back to normal? Having been in a lockdown since Christmas I am sure that you will all be keen to get out and enjoy your outside sporting activities. In accordance with the new Government COVID-19 directives, Southdown Gun Club will be looking to re-open for the Easter weekend. It has been disappointing to have to close, but with infection and mortality rates reducing and the vaccination roll out moving steadily forward, we cannot wait to welcome you back to the new-look Southdown.
So this is what we have planned regarding re-opening for the Easter Weekend, to include a two-day FITASC on April the 1st and Good Friday, plus a registered Sporting & Sportrap on the Bank Holiday Monday – both events have been live on the booking system since Thursday 11th February, so don’t miss out – you can book in online, but because of the uncertainty we will not be expecting payment. This can be done on the day, and hopefully this will make things easier if the events do not go ahead.
Sporting practice will be available on Thursday 1st, Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday and the new-look sporting practice extends to 20 practice stands with up to 20 different sporting pairs, so something for everyone, there really is a whole lot of shooting available!
Safety
It goes without saying that we still have to be really careful and help to continue reducing the spread of the coronavirus, so please wear your mask when around other people and when booking in. Do not stay on when you have finished as this will help us keep things moving and reduce queues, and please sanitise your hands wherever possible. The shop will remain closed, although cartridges will be available for pre-order and collection. The café will also be closed, but we do hope to have an outside caterer, with their own van, serving snacks.
Pre-Booked Events and Lessons
Lessons can go ahead for one-to-one sessions for experienced shooters wanting to improve, however beginners and have a go sessions, are not possible at the moment until the restrictions relax, so if you have a pre-booked session or event please check with reception via email info@southdowngunclub.co.uk, regarding a new date. We will of course honour your booking and happily carry over your booking until after the restrictions have ended. Or if you would prefer we will give you a full refund on request.
Please note however, that we will be furloughing most of our staff so responses to requests will be limited and will take longer than usual, for which we apologise in advance.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has visited Southdown and it goes without saying that we look forward to welcoming you back at Easter.
