Introduction to Game Shooting
Introduction to Game Shooting – From £695 Per Person
There is a lot of mystery about game shooting and getting introduced to game shooting is not that easy, unless you know someone who can give you the inside line. So with this in mind, we have decided to help by demystifying the world of live bird shooting, by running an introduction to game shooting day at our award winning shooting school. This will be followed by a 100 bird driven partridge day at the renowned Swanborough Estate, in the Sussex Weald, south of Lewes.
The day is limited to 16 guns, split into two groups of eight to ensure the maximum benefit can be attained by the shooter.
Day One: Southdown Gun Club & Shooting School
09:30hrs Begin the day with a breakfast roll, before splitting up into two groups.
10:00hrs Classroom/Shooting Tuition
The first group will spend some time in the classroom, whilst the other group will take instruction in the shooting school. The information session will be delivered by our head coach and an experienced game keeper. The subjects covered will include, the history of driven shooting, etiquette, safety, the law, quarry identification, season dates, what to wear, tipping how and when and where.
13:00hrs Shooting Tuition
Take time in the shooting school with instruction on medium driven targets before moving on the high tower, our very own 100ft tower. Practice your technique with one-to-one instruction from our CPSA registered shooting instructors. Experience high driven, long crossers, getting ready for day two at the live quarry.
15:30hrs Simulated Game Flush
Both groups are to join up to stand in the lower range and shoot in a mid-flush with over 1200 targets thrown from all of the towers, including standard, midi and mini targets. This flush will be fully instructed and is designed to recreate as much as possible the driven day.
16:00hrs Debrief and Q&A at the clubhouse with tea and cake
Day Two: Swanborough Estate East Sussex
09:00hrs Begin the day with a breakfast roll before pairing up and drawing pegs for the day
There will be 3 to 4 drives in the morning, where paired guns will swap round between each drive, experience driven partridge shooting at its best. Full instruction is on hand, however we will let all shooters have free time, offering advice as required to ensure you hit a bird or two.
11:00hrs Break for elevenses
