Members Sporting Championship 2025

When does it take place?

There will be 12 events during 2025, once a month on the following dates (see table). These events will all take place on a Saturday. You can pre-book if you want to shoot at a specific time or you can just rock up and see what is available. The events will generally take place around the club house on a unique course set specifically for the event.

Saturday January 11th Saturday February 1st
Saturday March 22nd Saturday April 5th
Saturday May 10th Saturday June 7th
Saturday July 5th Saturday August 9th
Saturday September 13th Saturday October 4th
Saturday November 1st Saturday December 6th Championship Finale

How does it work?

Normal Sporting rules apply in accordance with the CPSA regulations and we will set up a bespoke Sporting layout for the event around the clubhouse area in the DTL, Skeet, Rough, Pattern Plate and Shop layout areas.

There will be 6 or 7 stands to shoot from and a total of 50 birds. The layout will be set for all abilities with one easier target and one harder target, so that there is a 50% chance on every stand.

How is it fair to all Classes?

To make it fair to all we will be implementing a handicap system, similar to the system used in the CPSA premier league. If you aren’t classified and have no class, we will classify you on the day, the classification will last for 6 months when we will reclassify your raw scores. The C and B shooters will get an advantage as follows, C classified shooters will get an 8-target advantage and B shooters a 4-target advantage, this advantage should see a level playing field for all in the event.

How does the Championship work?

To qualify for a shot at the Championship you will need to have taken part in at least 6 of the events during the year – you can shoot them all if you want but only your best six scores will count. During the year we will generate a leader board which will be displayed on this page.

Then, in December 2025, after the last event, we will be able to announce the overall Southdown Members Sporting Champion 2025. We are purchasing a Championship board which will be going up in the club house, who will be first on the board….??

Are there prizes?

There sure are! Each event will have a prize fund which will be funded from the entry fee. This will be distributed to 1st, 2nd and 3rd at each event, but don’t get too excited the fund will be based on entry numbers, so the more people that enter the better it will be.

  • 2026 Club membership
  • £250 Cash
  • 250 Hull Pro One cartridges
  • 250 Clay credits on their members card

We really hope that you enjoy the event, get involved in the fun take part in this imitative which aims to add even more benefit to membership at Southdown Gun Club.
