Southdown Sponsored Shooter – Will Fenner
September 5, 2019

Fresh off the plane from Hungary, where Ronnie was shooting at the World Compak Championships (his first Team GB appearance), we caught up with our Southdown sponsoredshooter to chat about his shooting journey so far and where he hopes the future will lead.

Ronnie Green started shooting when he was 11 years old after receiving a shooting lesson as a Christmas present and it’s fair to say, he’s never looked back. Taking to the sport like a duck to water, he loved the lesson and decided to get involved more regularly, shooting competitions at the weekends. His first ever registered shoot was the Kent FITASC Championships at Southdown Gun Club, and of course, he won the Colts title, spurring him on to continue competing.

“My biggest inspiration in the sport”, says Ronnie, “Would be Mark Winser [professional shooting coach, 2019 European FITASC Champion and one of Britain’s top clay shots] – he is a phenomenal shot, but also a really humble person”.

Going from strength to strength and winning more and more competitions, Ronnie moved up into the Juniors category and has been having similar successes over the past couple of years. Representing GB in the World Compak Championships in Hungary is obviously a highlight to date, not least since they managed to take home the Silver medal for team Great Britain!

Ronnie is shooting the British Open Sporting this weekend but says that this is usually his last competition of the season before he takes a break. No doubt he will still be at Southdown on practice days doing what he does best.

In the future, Ronnie hopes to achieve as much as possible with his shooting career and by starting so young we’ve no doubt he’s got plenty more to give – “I would like to win a European/World Championship one day as high gun…that would be a huge achievement!”

Congratulations Ronnie on your recent success in Hungary – we are proud to support you along the way and cant wait to see how your shooting develops over the next few years. To read more about Southdown’s sponsored shooters, click here: https://southdowngunclub.co.uk/sponsored-shooters/
