Southdown Grand Masters
Southdown Gun Club was one of the original grounds to hold a Grand Masters and we have held our Grand Masters for well over twenty years. That said ironically, there is much more competition in the championship shooting calendar nowadays, which is great for shooting in general.
Competition Loyalty Reward Scheme
A loyalty stamp will be awarded for every competition paid and shot and for every 6 competitions purchased, the 7th is free. This can be redeemed against any Southdown Sporting or Sportrap competition Birds only, or to enter the prize fund the competition entry fee amount will need to be paid additionally.
Member Sporting Championship 2025
To qualify for a shot at the Championship you will need to have taken part in at least 6 of the events during the year – you can shoot them all if you want but only your best six scores will count. During the year we will generate a leader board which will be displayed on this page.
Prize Fund Payout
We aim to be as transparent as possible with the prize fund so selecting Southdown as your first choice for competition shooting is easy. We often subsidise the competitor contribution to enable these amazing prize funds, but of course prize funds are related to entry, unless we specifically advertise that we will be guaranteeing the prize fund.
Southdown Gun Club and Shooting School is renowned for its competition shooting historically since the club’s inception in 1984.
The list of events that have been held at the club include; twice holding the Sporting World Championships, the Clay Sporting Classic and the CPSA English Open twice. In addition, the club has also hosted countless CPSA and BICTSF GB Selection Shoots, CPSA Inter-county events and Regional Championships for the Sussex CPSA and several of our neighbouring counties including, Hampshire, Surrey, Greater London and Kent.
The competitions held at the club are generally sporting format competitions and we regularly hold a 100 Registered Sporting or Super Sporting alongside a 100 registered Sportrap, at these events we try to hold a 25 bird pool shoot. These competitions are generally held once a month. For full details on all clay pigeon shooting events at Southdown please visit the fixtures page to find out when our next event is going to be held.
Our clay pigeon competition course layouts are imaginative and varied and you will never see the same target twice in the same position in one of our competitions. We aim to provide something for all, and we use our vast range of traps to create a comprehensive range of target combinations; if you want a challenge without being beaten up, you won’t be disappointed.
In addition to this, we also hold FITASC and Compak competitions at other times throughout the year. With all the other national shooting events, this makes for a very busy competition calendar! A full list of our upcoming competitions can be found on our Fixtures Listing page.
If you would like to hold a clay pigeon competition event or competition at our award-winning shooting ground, please contact us with your requirements and we will see if we can accommodate you within our calendar.
