Clay Pigeon Shooting Competitions

Southdown Gun Club and Shooting School is renowned for its competition shooting historically since the club’s inception in 1984. The list of events that have been held at the club include; twice holding the Sporting World Championships, the Clay Sporting Classic and in more recent times, the CPSA English Open twice.  In addition, the club has also hosted countless CPSA and BICTSF GB selection shoots, CPSA Inter-county events and regional Championships for the Sussex CPSA and several of our neighbouring counties including, Hampshire, Surrey, Greater London and Kent.

The competitions held at the club are generally sporting format competitions and we regularly hold a 100 Registered Sporting alongside a 100 registered Sportrap, at these events we try to hold a 25 bird pool shoot. These competitions are generally held twice a month, for full details on all clay pigeon shooting events at Southdown please visit the fixtures page to find out when our next event is going to be held.

Our clay pigeon competition course layouts are imaginative and varied and you will never see the same target twice in the same position in one of our competitions. We aim to provide something for all, and we use our vast range of traps to create a comprehensive range of target combinations; if you want a challenge without being beaten up, you won’t be disappointed

In addition to this, we also hold FITASC and Compak competitions at other times throughout the year, and normally hold a FITASC winter series. Whilst we are not known widely as a trap shooting ground, we do hold an All Round Competition and a Double Rise as a county championship. With all the other national shooting events, this makes for a very busy competition calendar!
